Oculus Legal Group are partnered with a leading organisation who are looking to appoint an experienced Employment Tribunal litigator and/or Employment Advisor to join their Employment Law team. This role is suited to a technically strong lawyer who combines sound judgement with a practical, client-focused approach to contentious employment matters.

You will take ownership of a varied tribunal caseload, advising employers on strategy and risk while delivering a high standard of representation across the full lifecycle of claims.

The role
  • Employment Tribunal litigation
    • Lead and manage tribunal claims from pre-claim stage through to final hearing
    • Prepare pleadings, witness statements, case management documents and bundles
    • Conduct advocacy at preliminary hearings and, where appropriate, final hearings
    • Engage with ACAS on early conciliation and settlement discussions
    • Oversee disclosure, evidence and overall case strategy
  • Advisory & strategic support
    • Provide clear, commercially grounded advice on complex employment issues, including discrimination, unfair dismissal, whistleblowing, redundancy and employment status
    • Evaluate litigation risk and guide clients on approach, prospects and resolution
    • Work closely with HR teams and senior stakeholders to support retention and growth
    • Contribute to identifying opportunities for additional advisory work
    • Support senior leadership and wider team objectives as required
  • Broader employment law support
    • Deliver timely, practical advice across a range of employee relations matters (by phone, in writing and in person)
    • Draft and review contracts, policies and procedures
    • Maintain up-to-date legal knowledge through continuous development

About you

  • Qualified solicitor, barrister or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrable experience handling Employment Tribunal litigation
  • Advocacy experience beneficial, though not essential
  • Strong grounding in UK employment law and tribunal procedure
  • Excellent drafting, analytical and negotiation skills
  • Commercially aware, with the ability to communicate complex issues clearly
  • Comfortable managing a busy and varied caseload
