Fantastic opportunity to join a growing Residential Property team across South Wales. We're working alongside a well-established law firm to recruit a Legal Assistant into their Residential Property department. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced conveyancing support professional looking to join a busy and collaborative team, supporting fee earners across a broad range of residential property transactions. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring transactions progress smoothly while delivering a high level of client service throughout the conveyancing process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Acting as a day-to-day point of contact for clients, estate agents, solicitors, and other third parties
- Taking client instructions and assisting with onboarding processes, including ID verification, source of funds checks, and gifted deposit enquiries
- Preparing draft legal documents and issuing contract packs
- Requesting mortgage redemption statements and ordering property searches
- Responding to enquiries relating to freehold and leasehold property transactions
- Drafting transfer deeds and supporting the progression of sales and purchases
- Assisting with exchanges of contracts and coordinating completions
- Ordering mortgage funds and carrying out pre-completion searches
- Managing client enquiries and providing regular transaction updates
- Ensuring compliance with AML, client care, and regulatory requirements
- Supporting conveyancing fee earners to ensure matters progress efficiently
- Preparing correspondence and documentation through the firm's case management system
- Managing file administration, including opening, closing, storage, and retrieval of files
- Preparing post and documentation for dispatch
- Providing general administrative support to the wider Residential Property team
What We're Looking For:
- Minimum two years' experience within a residential conveyancing support role
- Experience assisting with residential property transactions from instruction through to completion
- Previous experience managing or assisting with a small caseload under supervision would be advantageous
- Strong customer service skills and a professional, approachable manner
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Strong attention to detail and high levels of accuracy
- Good understanding of conveyancing processes and procedures
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and case management systems
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Confident liaising with clients and third parties via telephone and email
- Team-oriented approach with a willingness to support colleagues where needed
