This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established, multi-office law firm with a strong reputation for providing high-quality legal services across the South West. With continued growth and investment in its Family team, the firm is looking to appoint a Child Law Solicitor who is passionate about making a genuine difference to the lives of children and families.
The successful candidate will join a supportive and collaborative team, working on a varied caseload of public family law matters. This role offers flexibility with hybrid working, genuine career progression, and the opportunity to develop your expertise within a respected and growing practice.
What you'll be doing:
- Managing your own caseload of public child law matters from instruction through to conclusion.
- Representing parents, guardians and children in care proceedings, supervision orders, emergency protection orders and adoption matters.
- Advising vulnerable clients with empathy and professionalism throughout the legal process.
- Conducting advocacy in the Family Court and liaising with Counsel where appropriate.
- Preparing legal documentation, witness statements and court bundles.
- Working closely with local authorities, social services and other professionals involved in child protection cases.
- Managing files, time recording and billing while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
About you:
- Qualified Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive with a current practising certificate.
- Experience in public family law, care proceedings or child protection matters.
- Applications are welcomed from Newly Qualified Lawyers through to experienced practitioners.
- Experience working on legally aided matters is advantageous.
- Children Panel Accreditation would be highly desirable, although candidates with relevant child law experience who are looking to achieve accreditation are encouraged to apply.
- Confident advocate with excellent client care and communication skills.
- Organised, proactive and able to manage a busy caseload effectively.
