We're working alongside a specialist Court of Protection law firm, looking for a Costs Draftsman to join the team based in their Manchester office. Offering hybrid working, this role will be joining a small team of highly skilled costs professionals and will be supporting with the billings for their largest department. This role is perfect for someone with prior Costs Draftsman experience who is looking for their next challenge.
Responsibilities include:
- Preparing and submitting bills of costs to the SCCO.
- Noting relevant deadlines/key dates, acting in accordance with those deadlines and required processes.
- Liaising with colleagues internally to ensure all relevant information is captured in bills of costs.
- Reviewing bills following preliminary and final assessment.
- Dealing with responses, appeals and negotiations with third parties and the SCCO.
- Liaising with external costs draftsmen, counsel, the SCCO and other external bodies.
- Service of bills of costs upon third parties.
- Understanding the assessment process and advising team leaders and colleagues with regard to best practice and improvement of recovery levels.
- Ensuring all reporting processes recorded and adhered to correctly.
- Ensuring the case management system is used effectively in accordance with agreed procedures.
