Legal Director / Partner – Residential Development | Birmingham City Centre | £110,000–£155,000 + Bonus

Are you operating at senior level within Residential Development but feel your progression towards Partnership has stalled?

I’m working with a leading national law firm on an exciting opportunity for an experienced Residential Development lawyer to join its Birmingham practice at Legal Director / Partner level.

This is a genuine progression opportunity for someone who has built strong technical expertise within the national housebuilder and residential development market and is now looking for the platform, backing and opportunity to take the next significant step in their career.

The team advises some of the UK’s largest national housebuilders and developers on sophisticated residential and mixed-use transactions, with particular expertise across strategic land, development projects, acquisitions, disposals and large-scale housing schemes.

For someone currently sitting at Legal Director, Principal Associate or equivalent level who feels there is limited scope to progress within their existing firm, there is a genuine opportunity here to build towards and step into a Partner-level position.

You will have the full backing of the existing Partnership and dedicated Business Development team, giving you the support and platform to grow your profile, strengthen client relationships and develop your practice.

The work will include:

  • Advising major national housebuilders on complex residential development transactions
  • Acting on strategic land acquisitions and development projects, helping clients secure sites with future housing potential
  • Handling large-scale residential and mixed-use schemes from acquisition through to development and disposal
  • Managing and developing relationships with key national housebuilder clients
  • Acting as a trusted adviser on strategically important development projects
  • Advising on complex conditional purchases and sales
  • Dealing with collaboration agreements and the assignment of transactional agreements and land interests
  • Advising on associated SDLT and VAT considerations
  • Handling complex disposals and auction sales, including matters involving overage and adverse possession
  • Playing a key role in the continued growth and strategic direction of the wider Residential Development practice

Recent work undertaken by the team includes:

  • Advising a national housebuilder on a significant project involving the assignment of transactional agreements and land interests between group companies
  • Advising on a complex conditional purchase and sale involving a replacement sale contract, assignment of rights under a collaboration agreement and associated SDLT and VAT issues
  • Advising sellers and an administrative receiver on multiple auction disposals involving complex overage and adverse possession issues

Location: Birmingham City Centre
Level: Legal Director / Partner
Salary: £110,000–£155,000 + Bonus

Benefits include:

  • Private medical insurance
  • Death in service
  • Up to 8% matched pension contribution
  • Paid Birmingham city centre parking
  • Enhanced holiday package
  • Bonus scheme
  • Flexible/hybrid working
  • Dedicated business development support
  • Strong pathway for further progression within the Partnership

This is a particularly exciting opportunity for someone who has the experience and ambition to operate at Partner level but perhaps doesn’t currently have the progression route or internal opportunity to get there.

You’ll be joining a firm that is prepared to invest in the right individual, with the backing of the Partnership, an established national client base and the infrastructure to help you develop your practice further.

All conversations are completely confidential.
