An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Non-Contentious Construction Lawyer to join a highly regarded national Top 50 law firm renowned for its market-leading Real Estate practice. The firm advises on some of the most high-profile development and infrastructure projects in the UK and is continuing to grow its construction offering across its regional offices.

While applications are welcomed from lawyers based across the UK, Birmingham and Nottingham are particularly desirable locations for this role.

The role

  • Join a well-established and collaborative construction team advising developers, investors, contractors, funders, and consultants on a wide range of non-contentious construction matters, including:
  • Drafting and amending building and engineering contracts, including all forms of the JCT suite, NEC contracts, institutional forms, and MF/1 contracts
  • Drafting and negotiating consultant appointments, both industry standard and bespoke
  • Advising on warranties, bonds, guarantees, and collateral warranties
  • Development and funding agreements
  • Agreements for lease
  • Novation agreements and ancillary project documentation
  • Supporting major real estate and development projects from inception through to completion

About you

  • Qualified solicitor with experience in non-contentious construction work, or a mix of contentious and advisory construction matters
  • Ideally between 2–10 years’ PQE, although applications are encouraged from candidates outside this range
  • Trained and qualified within a recognised construction team
  • Strong technical drafting skills and a commercial approach to problem solving
  • Excellent client-facing and communication skills
  • Proactive, collaborative, and keen to contribute to the continued growth of the team

  • Salary of £65,000 – £85,000+, dependent on experience
  • Two discretionary bonus schemes:
  • Firm-wide bonus of up to 15%, dependent on overall firm performance
  • Uncapped individual bonus based on billing, business development, and wider firm contributions, including charity, social initiatives, and diversity and inclusion, with many team members achieving double-figure bonuses
  • 25 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays, plus an additional day at Christmas
