Manchester (Hybrid) Salary up to £34,000 per annum. Fantastic opportunity to join a specialist litigation team acting on behalf of lenders, finance companies, and institutional clients across a range of property-related and debt recovery disputes. We are recruiting for a Debt Recovery Paralegal to support solicitors handling County Court litigation, mortgage possession proceedings, and wider civil disputes. The successful candidate will be involved in managing claims through the litigation lifecycle, liaising with clients and Counsel, preparing court documentation, and ensuring compliance with the Civil Procedure Rules. This role offers excellent exposure to contentious property matters and lender work, making it ideal for someone looking to build a long-term career in litigation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with the progression of defended and undefended County Court claims from issue through to enforcement
  • Supporting solicitors on mortgage possession matters and related recovery proceedings
  • Drafting court documents, witness statements, correspondence, and applications
  • Preparing hearing bundles and trial documentation in accordance with court requirements
  • Liaising directly with lender clients, borrowers, Counsel, court staff, and third parties
  • Monitoring court directions, procedural deadlines, and compliance with the Civil Procedure Rules
  • Instructing Counsel and assisting with the preparation of cases for hearings
  • Conducting legal research and reviewing case law where required
  • Updating case management systems and maintaining accurate file records
  • Assisting fee earners with a varied caseload of property litigation, debt recovery, and enforcement matters

What we're looking for:

  • Knowledge of the Civil Procedure Rules
  • Experience handling County Court claims
  • Experience acting for lender, finance company, or institutional clients would be advantageous
  • LPC or SQE1 qualification would be advantageous but is not essential

Desirable Experience:

  • Mortgagee possession claims
  • Landlord and tenant disputes
  • High Court and/or tribunal proceedings
