A well-established Top 200 UK law firm is seeking a Medical Negligence Solicitor to join its growing and highly regarded clinical negligence team in either Cambridge or Chelmsford. This is an excellent opportunity for a solicitor with 1–4 years' PQE to develop their career within a supportive and ambitious team, handling a varied caseload of claimant medical negligence matters. The successful candidate will work alongside experienced specialists on complex, high-value claims while also managing their own files and building strong client relationships.
The Role
- You will advise clients on a broad range of clinical negligence matters, providing clear and compassionate legal guidance throughout the claims process.
- The role offers exposure to complex and sensitive cases, with opportunities to work on matters involving serious injuries, delayed diagnoses, surgical errors, birth injuries and other healthcare-related claims.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing your own caseload of medical negligence claims from inception through to resolution.
- Assisting senior lawyers on complex and high-value matters.
- Providing practical, client-focused legal advice and maintaining excellent standards of client care.
- Drafting legal documentation, witness statements and correspondence.
- Liaising with medical experts, counsel and other professionals.
- Supporting business development initiatives and helping to raise the profile of the team.
- Ensuring files are progressed efficiently while meeting billing and performance objectives.
Candidate Requirements
- Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales with between 1 and 4 years' PQE in medical negligence or clinical negligence matters.
- Applications from qualified CILEX professionals with litigation rights will also be considered.
- Strong technical knowledge and a genuine interest in claimant clinical negligence work.
- Excellent communication and client care skills.
- Ability to manage files effectively and work collaboratively within a team environment.
