About the Role

We are working with an established legal team in Basildon who are looking to recruit a Residential Conveyancing Paralegal to join their busy property department.

This is an excellent opportunity for a conveyancing professional with previous residential property experience who is looking to develop their career within a supportive and well-established team.

You will work closely with fee earners, clients, lenders, estate agents and other third parties, supporting residential property transactions from instruction through to exchange and completion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting fee earners with a varied caseload of residential conveyancing matters.
  • Reviewing title documents, plans, leases and management information.
  • Ordering, reviewing and reporting on property searches.
  • Reviewing mortgage offers and lender requirements.
  • Raising, reviewing and responding to pre-contract enquiries.
  • Preparing contracts, transfers and mortgage deeds for signature.
  • Gathering and reviewing source of funds information.
  • Liaising with clients, estate agents, lenders, mortgage brokers, management companies and other solicitors.
  • Monitoring key dates, deadlines and transaction milestones.
  • Preparing completion statements and files for exchange and completion.
  • Assisting with completion monies and confirming completion.
  • Submitting SDLT returns and assisting with post-completion requirements.
  • Keeping clients and third parties updated throughout the transaction.
  • Maintaining accurate file notes and case management records.
  • Ensuring compliance with firm procedures, lender requirements and SRA regulations.
  • Identifying potential issues and escalating these to the relevant fee earner where appropriate.

About You

We are looking for someone with previous experience within residential conveyancing who is confident supporting matters through the conveyancing process.

You will ideally have:

  • Previous experience within a residential conveyancing team.
  • Good understanding of the conveyancing process from instruction through to completion.
  • Strong attention to detail and document-review skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple matters.
  • Ability to work to deadlines in a busy environment.
  • Good understanding of exchange, completion and post-completion procedures.
  • A proactive approach and the confidence to identify and escalate issues.
  • Strong client care and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a wider legal team.
