As a Payroll Administrator, you will manage and deliver timely, accurate payroll for all employees in compliance with UK employment law, tax regulations, and company policies. You’ll be the go-to expert for payroll queries and a key link between HR, Finance, and regulatory bodies.
What You’ll Do
- Accurate pay processing: Calculate and process salaries, wages, overtime, bonuses, and statutory payments (SSP, SMP, SPP).
- Legal compliance: Ensure payroll complies with HMRC regulations, including Real Time Information (RTI) reporting.
- Record keeping: Maintain accurate payroll records for auditing and reporting purposes. Prepare essential documents including payslips, P45s, P60s, and P11Ds.
- Communication & support: Be the first point of contact for payroll-related employee queries. Liaise with HMRC, pension providers, and internal departments such as HR and Finance.
- Confidentiality & accuracy: Handle sensitive employee data responsibly and maintain strict confidentiality. Prevent errors that could lead to financial or legal issues.
Skills & Experience
- Proven payroll processing experience in a UK environment.
- Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation and HMRC guidelines.
- Experience with payroll software (e.g., Iris Payrite, ADP, Xero, or similar).
- Strong numeracy, attention to detail, and excellent organisational skills.
- Ability to manage confidential data with integrity.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Desirable
- Recognised payroll qualification (CIPP or equivalent).
- Experience in multi-site or high-volume payroll.
- Knowledge of pension auto-enrolment and payroll-HR system integration.
