OCU are recruiting, we have an exciting new opportunity for an experienced Operations Director to come and join us based in the North of England, you will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and direction to the company's operations in the Non-Regulated Energy portfolio across the North of England and Scotland, ensuring the effective and efficient delivery of products and services.
This role requires strong leadership skills, business acumen, and the ability to drive operational excellence across all areas of the organisation.
The role will with have P&L accountability of circa £120m per annum with strong growth aspirations into the subsequent financial years, leading a team of project directors on a range of projects across multiple sectors and clients.

Key Responsibilities
- Strategic
Planning: Develop and implement strategic plans and objectives for the company's operations in alignment with overall business goals and objectives.
Identify opportunities for growth, expansion, and improvement in operational processes and systems.
- Team
Leadership: Lead and manage the operations team, including department heads, managers, supervisors, and staff.
Provide direction, guidance, and support to ensure that team members perform effectively and efficiently in their roles.
- Operational
Management: Oversee all aspects of the company's operations, including production, supply chain, logistics, facilities management, and customer service.
Ensure that operational activities are conducted in accordance with company policies, procedures, and quality standards.
- Performance
Monitoring: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to monitor and evaluate the performance of operational activities.
Track progress against targets, analyse data, and identify areas for improvement.
- Continuous
Improvement: Drive a culture of continuous improvement and innovation across the organisation.
Identify opportunities for process optimisation, cost reduction, and efficiency gains.
Implement best practices and initiatives to enhance operational performance and competitiveness.

Management: Manage operational budgets, forecasts, and financial performance.
Monitor expenses, revenue, and profitability to ensure that operational activities are conducted within budget and contribute to overall business success.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
- Chartered member of MIET.
- Proven experience in senior leadership roles, with a focus on operations management in the renewable energy sector.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent strategic planning and decision-making abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Sound financial acumen and budget management experience.
- Knowledge of relevant industry regulations and standards across both Power Distribution and Transmission.
