Location: Berkshire (based from OCU Reading Depot)
Team Structure: 2–3 person Civils Teams
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out excavation and installation of ducting and cable infrastructure as part of a small team.
- Ensure all work is completed safely, accurately, and to a high standard.
- Demonstrate full competence in civils operations and NRSWA-related activities.
- Manage plant and equipment, ensuring regular inspections and maintenance are completed, and defects are reported promptly.
- Use a tablet device to access documentation, record progress, and confirm job completion.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in a similar role within the utilities sector, ideally electrical.
- Ability to work independently while knowing when to elevate issues.
- Strong commitment to safe working practices and adherence to company procedures.
- Flexible approach to tasks and working conditions.
- Must be based in the Berkshire area and able to commute to the Reading Depot.
- Solid understanding of highways construction and willingness to work in all weather conditions.
Essential Certifications:
- EUSR SHEANPORS / CPCS Excavator Ticket
- NPORS / CPCS Dumper Ticket
- NRSWA Accreditation
- Winch Operation Ticket
- First Aid Certification
- Full, clean UK driving licence (including towing entitlement)
Skills & Competencies:
- Experience working near live utilities and understanding associated risks.
- Strong safety awareness, including conducting risk assessments and using appropriate PPE.
- Competent in using smart devices for accurate record-keeping and reporting.
