OCU are looking for a Cloud & Infrastructure Engineer based in Preston to design, build, and manage secure, high-performing cloud environments across Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform (GCP). About the role
You will sit at the heart of a transformative Technology function in OCU Digital within a fast-growing organisation. Every deployment you optimise, every automation you implement, and every resilience improvement you lead will directly support innovation across the business.
- You will collaborate with DevOps, security, and application teams to build a best-in-class multi-cloud strategy, ensuring scalability, cost-efficiency, and performance at enterprise scale.
Ownership and influence over multi-cloud architecture

Platform Support & Incident Management
- You will monitor and maintain Azure & GCP environments for stability and availability
- Lead incident response and root cause analysis
- Implement automation to reduce recurring issues
- Collaborate cross-functionally to resolve complex technical challenges
Platform Stability, Security & Compliance
- Design and maintain secure, resilient cloud infrastructure
- Enforce security controls, IAM, and compliance standards
- Drive disaster recovery and business continuity initiatives
- Identify emerging technologies and recommend enhancements
Service Management & Automation
- Operate within ITIL best practices (incident, change & problem management)
- Champion Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep)
- Streamline deployments and operational processes
- Develop best practices for multi-cloud environments
Documentation & Enablement
- Maintain robust cloud architecture documentation
- Deliver training to internal teams
- Guide users on leveraging cloud services effectively
About you
- 3–5 years' experience in cloud engineering within enterprise environments
- Strong Azure expertise and working knowledge of GCP
- Deep understanding of cloud security, IAM, encryption & compliance frameworks
- Experience working with vendors and cross-functional teams
- Knowledge of ITSM / ITIL processes
- Excellent communication skills
Desirable:
- PowerShell & Python for automation
- Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions & CI/CD pipelines
- ISO 27001 / ISO 22301 familiarity
- Azure or Google Cloud certifications
