We are seeking experienced M&E Project Engineers to lead the engineering delivery of renewable energy projects across the full voltage spectrum - from 132kV transmission interfaces through MV distribution and LV systems. This role bridges project engineering and project management, taking full ownership of engineering delivery from concept through commissioning and handover. You will drive multi-disciplinary coordination, ensure grid and regulatory compliance, manage quality controls, and deliver technically robust, buildable, and cost-effective solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Engineering & Project Delivery
- Take full lifecycle engineering ownership from concept design through to energisation and final handover.
- Coordinate multi-disciplinary teams including Civil, Electrical, Protection & Control (P&C), SCADA, EPC partners, ICP/BOP contractors, and OEM vendors.
- Manage interfaces with DNOs, TNOs, and Grid Operators, ensuring compliance with all technical and regulatory requirements.
- Design Management
- Lead and coordinate Design Development & Review (DDR) meetings.
- Ensure all design packages are delivered on programme, fully reviewed for constructability, and aligned with Employer's Requirements and industry best practice.
- Maintain control of design changes, redlining, and as-built reconciliation in line with QA/QC and ITP requirements.
- Construction & Site Support
- Provide engineering support during construction, including RFIs, field changes, and technical problem solving.
- Develop and issue Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) prior to site mobilisation and support progressive assurance throughout the construction lifecycle.
- Manage Site Technical Queries (STQs) and Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), including root cause analysis and close-out.
- Documentation & Handover
- Ensure O&M manuals are developed progressively and fully complete at handover, including: Manufacturer data sheets, Test and commissioning records, Protection settings & software files, Maintenance schedules, spares lists, warranties, Calibration certificates and as-built drawings.
- Procurement & Vendor Management
- Develop ITT packages and manage subcontractors to ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Support procurement by ensuring equipment aligns with approved designs and Employer's Requirements.
- Attend Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) and witness testing where required.
- Leadership, Reporting & Improvement
- Identify and mitigate technical and programme risks.
- Capture and report lessons learned to support continuous improvement.
- Prepare and present progress reports to senior stakeholders.
- Maintain effective client communication to exceed expectations.

- Maintain strict cost control and programme adherence.
- Ensure full compliance with industry regulations, quality, and safety standards.
- Foster high-performing site and project teams.

Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum Level 3 qualification in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
- Proven experience within the renewable energy sector.
- Experience working with DNOs, TNOs, and Grid Operators.
- Strong knowledge of UK and European standards, including BS EN / IET, ENA, G99/G100, Grid Code, CDM.
- Solid understanding of M&E systems across HV, MV, and LV.
- Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
- Safety-first mindset with practical knowledge of: Electrical hazards, Safe isolation and switching, LOTO and permit-to-work systems.
- Proven ability to deliver pragmatic, constructable engineering solutions with strong site support.
