We are looking for an experienced Project Manager to join OCU and take ownership of the delivery of multiple live utility and infrastructure projects across the South East. Based from either Greenwich or Borehamwood, you will manage 3–4 concurrent projects covering works such as substations, cabling, highways excavation and utility installations.
Working closely with DNOs and National Grid, you will lead projects from initiation through to completion, ensuring they are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards, while exceeding client expectations.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the end-to-end delivery of multiple utility and infrastructure projects, from planning through to completion, ensuring safety, quality, programme, and budget targets are met.
- Develop and manage project plans, programmes, budgets, resources, and risk registers, adapting plans to address change and mitigate risk.
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients, DNOs, National Grid, internal teams, and subcontractors, ensuring clear communication and strong stakeholder relationships.
- Provide leadership to multidisciplinary project teams, promoting collaboration, high performance, and continuous development.
- Manage labour, plant, materials, and subcontractors to maximise efficiency and value across the project lifecycle.
- Identify, manage, and mitigate project risks and issues, implementing proactive solutions to avoid disruption.
- Ensure strict compliance with health, safety, quality, and environmental standards, championing a safety-first culture.
- Maintain control of project finances, including budgets, forecasts, cost tracking, variations, and invoicing.
- Monitor project performance against KPIs, taking corrective action where required to achieve successful outcomes.
- Proven experience as a Project Manager within utilities, infrastructure, construction, or engineering environments.
- Strong background in electrical, cabling, substations, highways excavation, and/or water and gas utilities.
- Previous experience working with DNOs and/or National Grid, either directly or as an ICP.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and lead multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong commercial awareness with experience managing budgets, forecasts, and cost control.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Solid understanding of project management methodologies; PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent is desirable.
- Proficient in project management tools and Microsoft Office.
- Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline (desirable).
- Full UK driving licence.
