OCU Group is seeking an experienced Grounds Maintenance Operative to join our team.

As a Grounds Maintenance Operative, you will be responsible for the upkeep and presentation of grounds and vegetation across our clients\’ sites covering the South East of England. This role is essential to ensure all sites are safe, accessible, and compliant with environmental and safety standards. You will deliver a large vegetation management programme and handle reactive requests.

Covering numerous small sites and working in a regulated environment, you will maintain the highest standards in Health and Safety.

As a Ground Maintenance Operative, you will be able to:

  • Carry out scheduled grounds maintenance tasks including grass cutting, vegetation strimming, hedge trimming, weed control, and litter picking.
  • Maintain vegetation around utilities infrastructure to ensure clear access and visibility. Safely operate powered horticultural equipment (mowers, strimmers, hedge trimmers, etc.).
  • Work in accordance with safety and environmental standards, report hazards or near misses, complete site-specific risk assessments, and wear appropriate PPE.
  • Accurately complete job records, timesheets, and maintenance logs.
  • Work collaboratively with team members and follow instructions from supervisors or client representatives on site.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Previous experience in grounds maintenance is advantageous, but full training can be provided for beginners.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Basic knowledge of Health & Safety in outdoor environments.
  • Enjoy working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Willingness to travel to multiple sites across the Southeast of England.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • NPTC / Lantra / PA1 / PA6 qualifications are a plus but not essential.
