OCU Group are looking for an experienced Graphic Designer to join the team. You will be based in our Stockport or Preston office.
The Graphic Designer will play a key role in bringing ideas to life through powerful visuals, producing high-quality assets for both digital and print formats. This role is integral to maintaining and evolving OCU’s brand identity and supporting internal communications, campaigns, and strategic initiatives.
The designer will work closely with the Marketing & Communications Director to ensure all design work aligns with brand, strategic objectives, and business goals
Creative & Design Execution
- Develop compelling, on-brand designs across a wide range of formats including advertising, internal communications, event collateral, and more.
- Create custom templates, illustrations, iconography, and infographics.
- Elevate design standards and visual identity across all items, pushing for innovation and impact in every brief.
- Develop concepts that deliver on business needs and target audience impact.
- Work in close collaboration with the Marketing & Communications Director to align designs with broader strategic and brand goals.
- Manage multiple design projects with competing deadlines, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality creative.
- Demonstrate strong time management skills to deliver rapid turnarounds when required, without compromising quality.
- Adhere to structured approval workflows, ensuring all designs follow defined processes and receive appropriate sign-off.
- Use our in-house ticketing system to track, prioritise, and manage design requests efficiently.
- Act as a brand advocate across the organisation, maintaining consistency, upholding guidelines, and helping others correctly apply brand principles.
- Support in reviews and guidance to internal teams and external suppliers on brand compliance.
- Design visually engaging, brand-consistent PowerPoint decks for internal and external presentations.
- Lead on the design and layout of the company’s internal magazine, ensuring polished production and high engagement.
- Proven experience in graphic design, with a strong portfolio across both print and digital formats.
- Advanced skills in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
- Strong layout, typography, and visual storytelling skills.
- Expertise in PowerPoint and editorial design (e.g., reports, brochures, magazines).
- Demonstrated experience managing multiple projects with fast turnarounds.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to take direction, follow structured approval processes, and respond well to feedback.
- Experience creating illustrations and custom icons.
- Working knowledge of motion graphics and video editing (e.g. After Effects, Premiere Pro).
- Familiarity with UI/UX tools (e.g. Figma, Adobe XD).
- Understanding of HTML/CSS/Wireframing and web/app related skills
