About the job

The Electrical Estimator will assist the pre-construction team and the estimating team in completing electrical tendering for renewables projects across the OCU Connect and OCU Energy business

The Electrical Estimator\’s responsibilities include:

  • Cost Estimation: Analyse drawings, specifications, and project documents to prepare accurate cost estimates for electrical components in renewable energy projects.
  • Data Collection: Gather data on labour costs, materials, production times, and location specifics.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, designers, contractors, and suppliers to ensure comprehensive cost estimation.
  • Software Utilisation: Use specialised software for data analysis, forecasting, and budgeting.
  • Reporting: Prepare detailed reports or bids for management, clients, or project teams.
  • Industry Trends: Keep track of the latest industry trends and advancements in renewable energy.
  • Coordination: Coordinate with team members on work progress and cost reporting.
  • Client Interaction: Present and explain estimates to clients and stakeholders, addressing any questions or concerns.
  • Contract Negotiation: Negotiate contracts with vendors and subcontractors.
  • Project Monitoring: Review project schedules and timelines to ensure they align with cost projections and monitor project progress to ensure costs remain within budget.

Experience you need to be considered?

  • Extensive experience in electrical estimating, particularly in the renewables sector for substation projects up to 132kV.
  • A degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills, proficiency in estimation software, excellent communication.
