Electrical Design Engineer

As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for generating HV & LV pre-meter electrical design on renewable projects up to 11kV. You will work closely with DNO’s/IDNO’s, engineers and project teams to develop and design innovative solutions for a wide range of strategic UK clients.
Your skills and expertise will play a crucial role in the design and development of electrical power systems, equipment, and infrastructure. Ensuring successful execution of project delivery via high-quality engineering.
Here is what your day to day will look like:
- Producing conceptual designs, detailed designs, manufacturing specifications, operational documentation and validation evidence for electrical engineering solutions in relation to defined requirements.
- Developing detailed design drawings, models, and schematics using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Amtech, EOM) based on engineering principles and standards.
- Collaborating with engineering teams to understand project requirements, specifications, and constraints.
- Ensuring designs meet functional, performance, and safety requirements that align with the DNO’s Technical Library.
- Conducting design reviews, iterations, and validations to refine designs and optimise performance.
- Generating engineering documentation, including drawings, manuals, and reports, to communicate design intent, requirements, and procedures.
- Performing design reviews and verification activities to ensure designs comply with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and company policies.
- Presenting design proposals, solutions, and progress updates to internal teams and external clients as required.

What do you need to be successful in this role:
- Educated to degree level in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Experience of design engineering on projects in the renewable energy and/or wider transmission & distribution sectors and associated knowledge and expertise in technical standards and engineering solutions.
- Have experience working in, or with, industry, preferably in a multi-disciplinary design, development and production environment, creating bespoke solutions, using both digital and analogue technologies.
- Experience working within an ICP preferred.
- Proficiency and previous experience in CAD software such as AutoCAD, Amtech, EOM or equivalent.
