Description About the Opportunity

Join OCU Group on a major new 132kV power infrastructure project in Anglesey, supporting the delivery of both cable route works and a new substation build. This is a standalone Senior SHEQ Advisor role where you'll take ownership of SHEQ performance across the project from mobilisation through to completion. We're looking for an experienced SHEQ professional with proven HV/LV project experience who can hit the ground running, build strong relationships on site, and provide visible leadership from day one. Working closely with operational teams, you'll play a key role in driving a positive safety culture, ensuring compliance, and supporting the successful delivery of a nationally significant infrastructure project. If you enjoy autonomy, responsibility, and making a genuine impact on project performance, we'd love to hear from you.

What you'll do
  • Lead all SHEQ activities across a major 132kV cable route and substation construction project.
  • Act as the primary SHEQ representative on site, supporting operational teams and subcontractors throughout project delivery.
  • Conduct site inspections, audits, and assurance activities to ensure compliance with company procedures, legislation, and client requirements.
  • Investigate incidents, near misses, and non-conformances, implementing effective corrective actions and lessons learned.
  • Deliver inductions, toolbox talks, SHEQ briefings, and coaching to site teams.
  • Support the development and implementation of risk assessments, safe systems of work, and project-specific SHEQ plans.
  • Monitor SHEQ performance, identify opportunities for improvement, and drive best practice across the project.
  • Produce SHEQ reports and maintain accurate records in line with company and client requirements.
What you'll bring Essential
  • Experience in a Senior SHEQ Advisor, SHEQ Advisor, HSQE Advisor, or HSE Advisor role within construction, infrastructure, utilities, power, engineering, or water environments.
  • Proven HV/LV project experience.
  • Previous experience supporting the construction or delivery of substations.
  • NEBOSH General Certificate, Construction Certificate, or equivalent qualification.
  • Chartered IOSH membership or actively working towards Chartered status.
  • Experience conducting audits, inspections, incident investigations, and risk assessments on live construction projects.
  • Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and industry best practice.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of SHEQ performance across a project.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable
  • Experience working on 132kV, HV, or EHV power projects.
  • Experience within principal contractor environments.
  • Knowledge of ISO management systems and SHEQ auditing processes.
  • IEMA qualification or environmental management experience.
