OCU Group is looking for an experienced SHEQ Advisor to work across Water Projects in the Yorkshire & North Lincolnshire region. As a SHEQ Advisor you will have responsibility for supporting effective SHEQ delivery within the region. You will support the operational management in their endeavours to keep our people, assets, and the environment safe from harm.
Key Responsibilities
- Support operational teams to implement and maintain SHEQ policies, procedures, and management systems (ISO 45001, ISO 14001, ISO 9001).
- Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments across water infrastructure and treatment sites.
- Deliver SHEQ training, toolbox talks, and briefings to staff, contractors, and stakeholders.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses; prepare detailed reports and implement corrective actions.
- Assist with the development of RAMS (Risk Assessments and Method Statements).
- Promote best practices and ensure environmental compliance, particularly around pollution prevention, waste management, and discharge control.
- Maintain and analyse SHEQ data and KPIs, reporting findings to management and recommending improvements.
- Liaise with project teams, contractors, and clients to ensure consistent SHEQ performance.
- Stay up to date with industry developments and changes in SHEQ legislation and regulations.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent)
- Experience in a SHEQ role within utilities, construction, or ideally the water industry
- Good knowledge of UK H&S legislation, CDM Regulations, and environmental management practices
- Full UK driving licence (role may involve travel to multiple sites)
- IOSH membership (Tech IOSH or higher)
- Experience with ISO management systems
- SHEA Water or EUSR registration
- Knowledge of water treatment and infrastructure construction processes
