We are seeking an experienced and high-performing Planning Manager to lead planning across a portfolio of live projects within major unregulated energy works across the UK. This is a challenging yet rewarding opportunity for a strong leader who can guide teams, adapt within a fast-paced environment, and consistently deliver to a high standard. You will oversee a team of 15+ planners across multiple concurrent projects, driving consistency, accuracy, and performance across all planning activities. As the central authority for programme delivery, you will ensure projects remain on track, risks are proactively managed, and reporting is clear, robust, and tailored for senior leadership. A keen eye for detail and the ability to scrutinise data and uphold governance are essential to ensure confidence in all project reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support a team of 15+ planners, making sure they perform to the highest level and work consistently across all projects.
- Oversee your planners to ensure they create, manage, and improve project programmes across multiple live projects.
- Stay visible and connected by regularly meeting planners on site and in regional offices across the UK.
- Keep up to date with change control on all projects, including early warnings, compensation events, and project manager instructions.
- Take ownership of project programme reporting to senior leadership, ensuring it is clear, accurate, and delivered on time.
- Identify risks early, track key milestones, and support teams through regular monthly project reviews.
- Build strong relationships and ensure planners are working closely with supply chain partners and stakeholders so plans stay accurate and achievable.
- Attend and lead client and project meetings, representing planning at a senior level.
- Continuously improve planning standards, tools, and ways of working.
