We are seeking an experienced, passionate and motivated individual to become a part of our expanding environmental and sustainability team. As a member of our team, you will be working across multiple projects in the Southeast of the UK, focusing mainly on energy projects, ensuring the successful implementation of sustainability and environmental best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the delivery of sustainability and environmental action plans, specifically tailored for projects.
- Offer expert advice and support to internal stakeholders on environmental matters, championing best practices and ensuring compliance with regulations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, engineering, and the wider SHEQS function, to integrate environmental and sustainability considerations into business processes and decision-making.
- Conduct environmental audits, assessments, and inspections to uncover opportunities for enhancement and guarantee adherence to environmental policies and procedures.
- Play a crucial role in investigating environmental incidents, ensuring that valuable lessons are learned, and implementing appropriate actions.
- Utilise the findings from environmental performance data, identifying trends and opportunities for enhancement, and develop insightful reports for management review.
- Collaborate with regulatory agencies, external consultants, clients and third-party organisations on matters related to environmental permitting, reporting, and compliance.
- Create and present engaging environmental training programs and awareness campaigns to educate employees and foster a culture of environmental sustainability.
- Assess sustainability risks and opportunities and assist in the development of environmental management plans for new projects and developments.
- Keep up to date with emerging environmental trends, technologies, and regulations, and evaluate their potential impact on company operations.
- Assist in the development and implementation of environmental sustainability goals, targets, and initiatives.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Hold bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Environmental Engineering, or related field; relevant professional certifications preferred (e.g., IEMA, IEEM / IWEM etc).
- Proven experience working in environmental management, sustainability, or related field, preferably within the construction sector.
- Sound knowledge of environmental legislation, regulations, and best practices, with the ability to interpret and apply requirements effectively.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to collect, analyse, and interpret environmental data.
- Confident communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
- Self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team to achieve environmental objectives.
- Proficiency in environmental management software and tools is desirable.
- Ability to travel to company sites and project locations as needed.
- Commitment to promoting environmental sustainability and corporate social responsibility.
