Description

You’ll play a key role in supporting the design, development and delivery of electrical engineering solutions across OCU’s infrastructure, utility and energy projects. Based in either Ruislip, Oxford, or Swindon you’ll work as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team, helping to deliver projects that provide essential services and infrastructure for communities across the UK.

You’ll gain exposure to a broad range of electrical engineering activities, supporting projects from initial concept and design through to installation, testing, commissioning and handover. Working alongside experienced engineers, project managers, site teams and clients, you’ll help develop technical solutions, review designs, support project delivery and ensure work is completed in accordance with relevant standards, specifications and regulatory requirements.

As part of the role, you’ll assist with electrical design calculations, equipment selection, technical documentation, site surveys and engineering assessments. You’ll gain valuable experience working with electrical distribution systems, control systems, power infrastructure and renewable energy technologies while developing an understanding of engineering principles, project management and industry best practice.

The role will involve collaboration with teams across both office and site environments, providing practical experience of how engineering solutions are developed and delivered in real-world project settings. As your technical knowledge and confidence grow, you’ll take on increasing responsibility, develop your problem-solving and stakeholder management skills, and become an important contributor to the successful delivery of critical infrastructure projects.

Perfect for

You’ll be curious, analytical and eager to learn, with strong problem-solving skills and an interest in how electrical systems support essential services and modern infrastructure.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys applying technical knowledge to real-world challenges, working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and seeing engineering designs brought to life. You’ll be keen to develop your technical expertise, project delivery knowledge and communication skills while working alongside experienced engineers on a variety of challenging and rewarding projects.

You’ll enjoy balancing design, analysis and practical implementation, helping to deliver safe, efficient and sustainable engineering solutions that support communities and contribute to the UK’s critical infrastructure networks.
