The engineering services we offer to our clients requires us to be able to deliver in an agile environment and the following are examples of the type of responsibilities and duties we are looking for from our candidates, working as part of our dynamic multidisciplinary water/wastewater design team.

About the job:

  • Contribute to the successful delivery of projects across UK project lifecycles: feasibility studies, front-end to detailed design (incl. Design and Build), and construction support.
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary environment across teams in the UK and overseas, to ensure successful delivery of integrated design solutions.
  • Contribute to the efficient delivery of projects to meet programme and budget, complying with OCU business management governance.
  • Production and review of design deliverables including engineering design calculation, drawings and report writing for projects in accordance with relevant design standard, codes and Purestream design management system.
  • Contribute to quality and safe design of technical solutions for projects in accordance with relevant design standards and codes.
  • Interpret wastewater sampling data, operational data, equipment specifications and studies to ensure design of water treatment plant assets are safely and efficiently built and installed.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise:

  • Educated to degree level with a process/chemical engineering bias; ambition to work towards Chartership and gain extensive industry experience.
  • Relevant experience of design or operations in the water and/or wastewater engineering sector in the UK or overseas.
  • Desirable to have knowledge of technical design requirements in water sector, and any knowledge of relevant UK codes and asset standards, for wastewater non-infrastructure assets would be an advantage.
  • Experience in the design of wastewater treatment unit processes (trickling filters, package plants, RBCs, activated sludge, chemical dosing etc) desirable.
  • Highly motivated, organised and with a strong desire to lead and contribute to technical excellence within project teams and wider OCU team/practice.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work under supervision and independently within a multidisciplinary team including with Clients, Contractors and colleagues alike.
  • Flexible approach to work type and locations for project assignments, if required, with a hybrid working model.
