OCU Group is looking for an experienced Grounds Maintenance Operative to join our team. As a Grounds Maintenance Operative, you will be responsible for the upkeep and presentation of grounds and vegetation across our clients\’ sites covering the South East of England. This role is essential to ensure all sites are safe, accessible, and compliant with environmental and safety standards. You will be responsible for delivering a large vegetation management programme and handling reactive requests.

Covering a large volume of small sites and working in a regulated environment, you will maintain the highest standards in Health and Safety. As a Ground Maintenance Operative, your duties will include:

  1. Carrying out scheduled grounds maintenance tasks such as grass cutting, strimming vegetation, hedge trimming, weed control, and litter picking.
  2. Maintaining vegetation around utilities infrastructure to ensure clear access and visibility.
  3. Safely using a range of powered horticultural equipment (mowers, strimmers, hedge trimmers, etc.).
  4. Working in accordance with safety and environmental standards, including reporting hazards or near misses.
  5. Completing site-specific risk assessments and ensuring all work is carried out with appropriate PPE.
  6. Accurately completing job records, timesheets, and maintenance logs.
  7. Collaborating with team members and following instructions from supervisors or client representatives on site.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Previous experience in grounds maintenance is advantageous, but full training can be provided for those starting a career.
  • A full UK driving licence.
  • Basic knowledge of Health & Safety in outdoor environments.
  • Enjoyment of working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Willingness to travel to multiple sites across the Southeast of England.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • NPTC / Lantra / PA1 / PA6 qualifications are a plus but not essential.
