The People Advisor (Learning & Development) plays a key role in delivering a proactive, business-focused People service, with primary responsibility for strengthening organisational capability through learning, manager development, employee engagement and organisational improvement.
The role partners with managers to develop management capability, support employee development and embed effective People practices that improve organisational performance.
Whilst this role has defined areas of primary accountability, it works in close partnership with the People Advisor(Operations) to deliver an integrated People service, strengthen organisational capability and support the successful delivery of the People Strategy.
- Primary Accountability: Learning & Development
- Identify organisational and departmental learning needs through collaboration with managers and analysis of People data.
- Coordinate learning programmes, development activities and external learning providers.
- Evaluate learning effectiveness and recommend improvements.
- Support the development of career pathways and development opportunities across the organisation.
- Maintain accurate learning records and monitor learning activity.
- Primary Accountability: Line Manager Development
- Design and coordinate and deliver management development programmes.
- Support managers in developing effective people management skills.
- Provide guidance on performance conversations, development planning and objective setting.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen manager capability
- Escalate complex development needs to the People Team Manager where appropriate.
- Primary Accountability: Engagement & Organisational Development
- Coordinate employee engagement activities and survey action planning.
- Support organisational development and business improvement initiatives.
- Support the embedding of organisational values and desired behaviours.
- Analyse People data to identify capability gaps and engagement trends.
- Contribute to organisational change initiatives that strengthen organisational effectiveness.
- Primary Accountability – Performance & Talent
- Support the continuous improvement of the performance review process.
- Support managers in preparing for effective performance and development conversations.
- Contribute to talent reviews, career development and succession planning activities.
- Analyse People data to identify capability trends and development opportunities.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of People initiatives and recommend improvements.
- Collaborative Working
Whilst this role has defined areas of primary accountability, it contributes across the wider employee lifecycle by supporting operational People activities, employee relations and continuous improvement initiatives where appropriate.

Experience
- Proven experience in a generalist People Team role including Learning &Development
- Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of current employment legislation
- Knowledge and working experience of Performance Management Systems/Processes
