Octric Semiconductor is a new name in the compound semiconductor foundry space. Its devices are used in mission critical defence and commercial applications. For over 25 years, we have been delivering over 1.5 billion devices that have been shipped from our site to date. Octric has ambitious plans to grow the company and expand with new products and applications, and the company is developing a 10-year investment plan. Located in Newton Aycliffe, UK, we occupy a 10,000 m2 purpose-built Class 100 manufacturing facility fully equipped to produce state of the art compound semiconductor product. PURPOSE OF ROLE:
- Own and drive and strive for the highest standards of Health Safety and Environmental Performance.
- Ensure self and teams remain focused on delivery of the department mission statement: “Safe effective, efficient and seamless supply of facilities services with target zero disruption to the site production schedule.”
- Perform an integral part in the successful operation of the department by planning, scheduling and supervising the key functions and activities performed by the maintenance and process operations technicians.
- Proactively deliver the role promoting a strong desire to “Operate in the spirit of continuous improvement.”
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure Health, Safety and Environmental standards/procedures are adhered including “Risk Assessment, Method Statements/ JSA’s and Environmental Sampling and Monitoring.”
- Day to day leadership and supervision of all Facilities Maintenance and Operations Technicians.
- Shift / Daily planning such that production and maintenance shift targets are achieved.
- Maximising the contributions from available resources in the delivery of the maintenance and operations two weekly schedules.
- Ensure adequate resource and allocation including holidays and shift cover control.
- Ensuring daily meeting and shift handovers are comprehensive, accurate and clearly highlight key issues requiring attention including those requiring input from the Health Safety and Environmental Team.
- Monitor, forecast and control cost and ensure they remain within requisitioned and purchase order values.
- Engage with process operators and HSE Team to ensure effectiveness of environmental sampling / record keeping.
- Manage visiting contractors and provide an effective interface between facilities team.
- Organise employee training and development through appraisals process.
Main Tasks:
- Supervise and lead the daily / shift activities of the maintenance and operation technicians.
- Ensure all operational and maintenance checklist and schedules are delivered on.
- Communicate daily/weekly team goals /targets to operators and maintenance technicians.
- Measure / Monitor / Improve performance of designated teams using metrics and KPIs.
- Ensure that personnel receive appropriate training in line with training schedule/programs.
- Timely and accurate supply of information relating to relevant personnel within facilities team.
- Analyse Maximo backlog information and implement appropriate remedial actions plans.
- Review operator work /checklist for adherence and in particular those associated with “Legionella, Health, Safety and Environmental Monitoring.”
- Promote quality awareness and encourage ideas for improvement.
- Maintain a consistent and fair approach to all designated teams and personnel.
- Promote best in class working practices and formalised procedures.
- Respond to business needs, scheduling WIP and maintenance in order to meet desired output.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years engagement in supervisory and leadership roles for multidisciplined maintenance and operator teams.
- Proven experience of working in a Chemical Plant environment delivering maintenance and process plant operational activities.
- Understand the importance of ISO14001 / 45001.
- Engaging with EHS Team on KPI Delivery.
Key Skills:
- Ability to coordinate maintenance and process operations teams.
- Maintenance Trade background “Electrical or Mechanical.”
- Capable of reviewing and understanding “Chemical Process Flow and Instrumentation Diagrams.”
- Knowledge of Legionella hazards and Control Measures.
- Knowledge of MCERTS and Environmental Monitoring System and Processes.
- Committed individual with appreciation of business needs.
- Ability to identify and focus on priority issues.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Capable of working with subject matter experts in EHS.
- Adaptable to changing circumstances.
- Highly proficient in the art of delegations.
- Provide constructive instructions to designated team.
- Positive and proactive leadership style and able to motivate personnel.

Education/Qualifications:
- Recognised supervisory management qualification or appropriate supervisory experience.
