Summary of Responsibilities:
- Provide manufacturing/Industrial Engineering expertise to semi-conductor wafer fab operation.
- Maintain a fab capacity model to drive equipment purchases and labour staffing levels.
- Implement tried and true manufacturing/industrial engineering techniques to achieve best in class production capability with regard to cycle time, line velocity, machine uptime and delivery performance.
- Responsibilities will include operational WIP data and Equipment availability to drive factory line improvements.
- The Manufacturing Engineer will partner with Factory Operations management, Engineering and Automation stakeholders to understand operational goals and develop strategies and tools to optimize WIP flow through the factory.
Main Tasks:
- Maintain capacity modelling data integrity via engineering change control monitoring and frequent communication with tool owners to ensure model readiness.
- Gather the information required to understand capacity analysis and production impact.
- Perform “what-if” analysis on business changes.
- Develop and implement solutions to problems affecting cycle time and delivery performance.
- Collect and validate data via stopwatch time studies and automation logs analysis, to analyse throughput impact of various process changes.
- Identifying opportunities to improve cycle time.
- Assist tool owners to understand capacity impacts associated with process changes.
- Identify tools/moves required to support starts mix shift due to business change.
- Provide information for management reviews of operational performance.
- Determine starts and mixes that we can support for the current order book and for the future look-ahead based on our capacity, constraints, available tools, tool performance and future process releases scheduled in our factory.
- Provide capacity analysis and cost analysis support for decision making.
- Interface with engineering, manufacturing, and planning/coordinating the release of new methods, flows, and processes.
- Estimate manufacturing cost, determining time standards, and making recommendations for tooling and process requirements of new or existing process flows.
- Maintain records and reporting systems for measurement of manufacturing operations.
Experience:
- 2+ years' experience in the Semiconductor, Electronics or Automotive industries, capacity modeling, operation optimization and data analysis.
- Ability to work in clean room environment wearing smock.
Technical Skills:
- Lean/Six Sigma.
- Problem Solving Methodologies, Data Analysis skills including statistical analysis and modeling.
- Advanced Excel user.
Personal Qualities:
- Strong people, communication, presentation, planning, and organisational skills.
- Results oriented.
- Excellent problem solving skills.
Education/Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering + 3 years' industry experience, or 7+ years of industry experience driving continuous improvement.
