About Octopus Money
At Octopus Money, we’re on a mission to make money advice accessible to all – because the right advice can turn your life dreams into reality.
The facts are alarming: half of Brits reach retirement age without enough money to live the life they want, financial stress is a leading cause of poor mental health and only 8% of us have access to 1-to-1 advice.
There’s plenty of information out there, but most of us just wish that someone we trust would tell us what to do with our money!
With Octopus, you get a personalised plan and a friendly expert to help you make it happen. We combine advisers, coaches and technology to understand your situation and recommend the right steps for your savings, investments, pensions and more. Then, we make it easy to invest in a custom portfolio, managed by experts.
We believe everyone deserves personal, 1-to-1 advice with their money.
The Role:
This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious self-starter! You\’ll begin your journey in our Training & Competence team for 4-6 months as a Quality Checker and then transition into a permanent Associate Financial Planner role.
Quality Checker (First 4-6 months, reporting Head of Training and Competence)
In this initial learning opportunity, you\’ll be instrumental in ensuring our coaching processes deliver world-class client experiences. You\’ll gain invaluable insights into our quality assurance and how our business operates day-to-day, setting you up for the Associate Financial Planner role.
Day to day, you will:

  • Complete end-to-end quality checks on non-regulated money coaching cases for both trainee and accredited coaches.
  • Conduct ad hoc case checks for our licensing partners.
  • Provide constructive feedback (mostly written, sometimes face-to-face) to coaches and partners.
  • Liaise with our T&C Coordinator on key trends and issues identified from your checks.
  • Help develop Aveni, our AI-based case checking software.
  • Collaborate with coaching teams to pinpoint and resolve risks and training needs.
  • Support coaches and advisers with process and knowledge queries.
  • Conduct quality assurance checks on our training programmes and trainee coaches.

This initial phase is designed to immerse you in the Octopus Money HQ environment, and practices, deepening your understanding of our propositions.
Associate Financial Planner (after 4 – 6 months in T&C team)
Once you\’ve successfully completed the Quality Checker phase, you\’ll transition into an Associate Financial Planner role. Here, you\’ll play a vital role in our mission of transforming 5 million lives by making high-quality money advice accessible. You\’ll support a diverse range of clients, including coaching clients, and contribute to exciting pilots and trials to continually enhance their customer experience.
Day to day, you will:

  • Meet with clients via video call, understanding their goals and delivering tailored financial guidance.
  • Build strong client relationships through active listening and insightful questions.
  • Provide feedback to internal teams to streamline processes.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to identify opportunities and implement solutions.
  • Spot trends and client pain points, providing data-driven insights to boost efficiency and growth.
