We’re Octopus Legacy: one of the fastest-growing tech companies in the country, and part of the UK’s most exciting and best-trusted group. We have a mission. We’re on a path to scale - aiming to become a household name while transforming a long-established industry and helping individuals and organisations prepare for, and find support after, death. But we can’t do it alone. That’s why we’re building a team of self-starters, problem-solvers and people who bring energy to everything they do. Ready to be part of something big?
The Role
As Head of Growth, you’ll own end-to-end marketing across B2B and B2C, shaping and executing the strategy, messaging, and systems that drive explosive growth across our services. This is a senior, high-ownership role working directly with Sam, our Founder and the leadership team. You’ll build a repeatable growth engine spanning acquisition, engagement, retention, and monetisation - across both consumer and commercial channels. You’ll unlock new opportunities to connect with and serve customers, ensuring they get ongoing value from our products and services, while strengthening our partnerships and charity relationships. Marketing is a key lever, but this role goes far beyond it - shaping revenue strategy, product priorities, strategic collaborations, and commercial execution. We’re scaling at extraordinary speed. The next phase is about building smarter systems, clearer prioritisation, and stronger cross-functional alignment, so we can grow efficiently while staying true to our mission and the impact we’re here to deliver.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and drive the end-to-end growth strategy across B2C and B2B channels.
- Build, test, and scale repeatable growth engines across acquisition, engagement, retention, and monetisation.
- Lead consumer-scale messaging and nurturing strategies for 500,000+ customers, driving measurable engagement and revenue outcomes.
- Identify and launch new channels, strategic collaborations, and routes to market across paid, organic, email/lifecycle, and support partnership/affiliate channels.
- Champion a customer-first approach, continuously improving the end-to-end journey - particularly in sensitive moments like bereavement.
- Partner closely with Brand to ensure growth activity strengthens long-term brand equity.
- Drive revenue growth by optimising acquisition, conversion, and retention while increasing operational capacity to serve thousands of customers each month.
- Own growth metrics, forecasting, and performance insights - turning experiments into measurable ROI.
- Collaborate closely with product, commercial, CX, legal, operations, and delivery teams to ship results quickly.
- Leverage technology, automation, and growth platforms (e.g., marketing automation, CRM, lifecycle tools, analytics) to scale efficiently.
- Support M&A and acquisition integration, ensuring growth systems, processes, and messaging scale across newly acquired teams.
- Recruit, develop, and lead high-performing growth and commercial team.
Who Are You?
- A proven growth leader who’s scaled both B2C and B2B services businesses, across multiple growth channels.
- Experienced in messaging and engagement at scale, driving measurable outcomes for large consumer audiences.
- Comfortable operating across strategy and execution - from big-picture systems design to hands‑on delivery.
- Strong commercial acumen and financial fluency, including budgeting, forecasting and advanced Excel skills.
- Thrives in fast-moving, ambiguous environments, making confident decisions and driving measurable outcomes.
- Confident working cross-functionally across product, marketing, sales, partnerships, and leadership, leading by influence.
- Data-driven, outcome-focused, with expertise in demographics, geographic modeling, and growth metrics.
- Operationally rigorous, with a bias toward building systems, technology, and automation to scale efficiently.
- High integrity, self-starting, and motivated by meaningful work that genuinely improves people’s lives.
Why You’ll Love It Here
We’re part of a group that believes work should mean something. You’ll be trusted to build boldly, backed to act fast, and supported to make a real impact. You’ll sit at the heart of one of the UK’s fastest-scaling tech businesses and Groups, working directly with our Founder Sam and the leadership team to shape our next phase of growth. This is an opportunity to own growth at company level - not just marketing and sales - but the full commercial engine across all our services. You’ll have huge scope to influence strategy, build teams, launch new initiatives, and help define how we scale. Unlimited opportunities for impact, growth, and learning.
Our Mission
Octopus Legacy is the place to plan for death and find support after loss. When people think about planning for death they think about wills, life insurance and funerals. We take these cold processes and turn them into something more human. Share more than money: leave voice notes, music, recipes. Shape a legacy that connects you while you’re here. And after you’re gone. Founded by Sam after his mum died suddenly, we’re a group of people who work in death because we’ve been affected by it. We know the difference a good plan makes, and what it’s like when there isn’t one. Death can come between us, leaving mess, legal fees, frustration. But it can also make us stronger. We see a world where people talk openly about death, and work out the real meaning of legacy, one that connects to them. We’re here to make that world happen.
