We’re spearheading the transition to greener, cheaper energy by installing in-home technologies — from smart meters and electric vehicle chargers to low-carbon heating, home batteries, solar, and beyond. To ensure every low-carbon heat installation is delivered safely for our domestic customers, we’re continually strengthening our safety, compliance and quality assurance capabilities. We’re looking for Health & Safety Advisors who are genuinely passionate about protecting the safety, health and wellbeing of people working across the energy industry.

In this role, you’ll play a vital part in promoting and maintaining a safe, supportive working environment across our Field Operations. You’ll be responsible for implementing and enforcing robust health and safety policies and procedures - preventing accidents and injuries, and ensuring full compliance with regulatory requirements. This role is remote, but will require weekly travel. Successful candidates will receive a company car, and must hold a valid full UK driving licence.

What you’ll do:

  • Continually promote our health & safety ethos and culture at all levels in the Company.
  • Develop, implement, and review health and safety policies, procedures, and management systems to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and industry best practices.
  • Ensure working practices are safe and comply with legislation.
  • Offer support and direction to our Managers and Project Teams regarding important health and safety issues, such as proper equipment usage, PPE needs, and emergency protocols.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify hazards, assess risks, and recommend corrective actions to mitigate potential safety issues.
  • Develop and deliver health and safety training for colleagues, ensuring that all personnel are engaged, understand their responsibilities and are competent to perform their duties safely.
  • Contribute to and deliver initiatives and projects to help improve awareness of relevant Safety-related topics.
  • Develop health and safety-related communications to ensure they are informative and engaging.
  • Support Managers to complete accident/incident investigations and review the quality and content to ensure sufficient root causes, findings, and actions.
  • Liaise with regulatory authorities, clients, and other stakeholders on health and safety matters, representing the company’s interests and ensuring compliance with contractual obligations.
  • Contribute effectively and support our Safety Plan to strive for continuous improvement.
  • Monitor and report on health and safety performance, including key performance indicators (KPIs), to senior management and project stakeholders.

What you’ll need:

  • NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent qualification in occupational health and safety.
  • Proven experience in a health and safety advisory role.
  • Thorough knowledge of health and safety legislation, regulations, and standards applicable to the Energy sector.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Excellent organisational and analytical abilities, with attention to detail and the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Good ability to report information clearly and straightforwardly.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
  • Flexible team player with a positive, proactive, enthusiastic nature and a high desire to succeed.

Desirable skills:

  • Audit skills
  • Experience of working in the Energy Industry or a knowledge of our Field Operations
  • Ability to deliver training/coaching
