We’re looking for a FinOps Specialist to join our funding team. You will be processing data and working directly with our suite of external funders to ensure consistent and timely cashflow into the business. We need someone that has a great eye for detail, is a self-starter, and is willing to act as an ambassador for Finance’s interests to the rest of the business. This role requires a minimum of one day per week in our London office.
What you'll do
- Daily Processing of Funding Batches: Systematically download and check documents, comparing them to the expected schedule and spotting any discrepancies. Input or upload bank transactions into the general ledger/accounting system. Ensure all payment and funding batches are complete, seeing them through from initial processing to receiving cash back in and validating payments, while acting as the primary point of contact to respond to any related queries. Ensure all accounts have the correct cash movements between them to comply with our funder requirements.
- Handling Queries: Investigate and resolve any issues that the funders identify acting promptly, liaising with relevant internal teams (e.g. Account Management, Capital Markets, etc). Own relationships with funders. Work with them to receive funding as quickly and seamlessly as possible. Identify and accurately allocate outgoing supplier funder payments. Help to perform bank reconciliations to ensure the correct bank account balance. Perform audit requests independently, noting and actioning changes to improve the process up and downstream.
- Compliance & Controls: Adhere to all internal financial controls and company policies regarding cash handling and bank procedures.
What you'll need
- Financial literacy is desirable but will consider alternative relevant experience.
- High degree of personal accountability and commitment to seeing tasks through from start to finish without leaving loose ends.
- Excellent multi-tasking abilities with the confidence and adaptability to seamlessly manage multiple workstreams at once.
- Excellent attention to detail as some parts will be repetitive and accuracy is extremely important.
- Excellent Excel/G-suite working knowledge and experience (SQL data skills desirable).
- You are resilient and adaptable - you’re positive and proactive, have the ability to investigate and logically resolve discrepancies in bank statements and system postings, and are energised by working in a fast-paced environment.
- You have a bias to action and proactively take ownership (particularly when dealing with problems).
- A highly effective communicator; you possess excellent verbal and written skills, capable of adapting your style to suit different audiences and situations for optimal impact.
- Model and embody our culture to ensure you and your team live by our company values.
