As part of the customer’s transformation programme focused on modernising end user technology, improving platform resilience, and supporting complex carve out and integration scenarios, we are seeking an experienced Apple SME to lead all aspects of macOS and iOS strategy, governance, and platform evolution. The Apple SME will provide technical leadership across device life cycle management, enterprise integration, security posture, automation, and operational design for the Apple estate. The role requires strong domain expertise, architectural thinking, and hands-on capability to guide both strategic decision-making and delivery execution.
Responsibilities
- Platform Ownership & Technical Strategy
- Act as the primary subject matter expert for all aspects of the Apple ecosystem (macOS, iOS, iPadOS) across the GAIA programme.
- Define the future state Apple platform architecture, ensuring alignment with enterprise frameworks, regulatory needs, and GAIA objectives.
- Drive platform capability enhancements, including security hardening, productivity enablement, and operational optimisation.
- Apple Device Management & Integration
- Lead the architectural and design authority for:
- Unified Endpoint Management (UEM/Mobile Device Management) integrations
- Apple Business Manager (ABM)
- Zero Touch Deployment workflows
- macOS/iOS configuration baselines
- Managed App lifecycle and update strategies
- Ensure seamless interaction between Apple devices and core infrastructure (network, identity, security, collaboration tools).
- Support design and execution of Apple estate separation activities within programme (identity, device fleet, policies, application access).
- Develop migration frameworks, coexistence strategies, and risk-managed cutover plans.
- Define data protection, backup, identity, and compliance models during transformation.
- Ensure all Apple solutions meet security, audit, operational risk, and compliance requirements.
- Lead engagement with Cyber Security, Technology Controls, and Risk & Governance teams.
- Champion best practices across device hardening, encryption, DLP, and secure access.
- Work closely with:
- Enterprise Architecture
- End User Technology Engineering
- Security Architecture
- Program Delivery Teams
- Third party vendors (e.g., JAMF, Apple Enterprise Support)
- Strong, hands-on experience with:
- macOS and iOS enterprise configuration
- JAMF Pro/JAMF Cloud or similar UEM/MDM platforms
- Apple Business Manager (ABM/DEP) and VPP
- SCEP, certificates, identity integrations, and secure networking
- Deep understanding of enterprise-grade device security, OS life cycle management, patching, and automation frameworks.
- Experience operating as an SME/Architect in large, complex organisations—ideally financial services.
- Background in major technology transformation, migration, or carve out programmes.
- Ability to translate business requirements into robust, scalable platform designs.
- Understanding of:
- encryption (FileVault)
- device compliance frameworks
- conditional access
- privileged access models
- auditability and regulatory requirements within banking
- Excellent engagement, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to influence decisions with senior stakeholders (VP/Director/MD levels).
- Ability to operate calmly and constructively in ambiguous or rapidly evolving programme environments.
- JAMF 300/400 certification or equivalent.
- Apple Certified Support Professional (ACSP) or Apple Certified IT Professional.
- Experience with Intune integration for cross platform device compliance.
- Exposure to collaboration ecosystems (Google Workspace, Slack, O365).
- TOGAF or similar architecture certification.
- Prior experience with global banks or highly regulated environments.
