What we do. Electric Car Leasing. Why we do it. Greener. Fairer. Future.
Over the last two years, consumer growth at Octopus Electric Vehicles has accelerated fast. We’ve grown our B2C activity significantly, and we’re now looking for a brilliant Performance Marketing Manager to take day-to-day ownership of our digital performance activity and help us take it to the next level.
This is a hands-on role for someone who loves being close to the detail: building and optimising campaigns, digging into search query reports, spotting wasted spend, improving audiences, testing creative and turning performance data into clear decisions.
Paid search is currently our most established performance channel, running across Google Ads and Microsoft Ads. One of your first opportunities will be to help us move into SA360, bringing your experience of the platform to help us migrate our activity and establish strong, scalable ways of working.
You’ll also help us develop the rest of our paid media mix. We currently run Demand Gen activity and a small amount of Meta, but there’s plenty more we want to test across programmatic display and paid social. You’ll bring enough experience in these areas to get stuck in, spot opportunities and help us work out what role they should play in our growth mix.
You’ll sit in the B2C Growth squad, reporting into the Senior Growth Marketing Manager, and work closely with our Content Creator, Design team, Commercial team and wider Marketing team. We move quickly, test a lot and have ambitious targets, so you’ll have plenty of autonomy and ownership - but you’ll also be part of a close-knit, collaborative squad that likes working together and doesn’t take itself too seriously.
Paid media is at the heart of this role, but you’ll also get involved in the wider customer journey, including writing, building and launching campaign landing pages using our web tools. We want someone who is curious about what happens beyond the click and how we can improve performance all the way through to lead, quote and order.
This could be a great next step for someone currently working as a Senior Performance Marketing / Paid Media Executive or an early-career Manager, particularly if you’ve built strong technical skills in an agency or fast-paced digital environment and are looking for more ownership in-house.
- Own our paid search engine: Take day-to-day ownership of Google and Microsoft paid search, from campaign structure and search query analysis through to bids, budgets, testing and optimisation.
- Help us move into SA360: Bring your experience of SA360 to help us migrate our existing Google and Microsoft Ads activity and establish strong ways of working.
- Develop our display activity: Use your programmatic experience to help us evolve beyond Demand Gen, testing new approaches through DV360 and building the channel over time.
- Grow paid social: Take our existing Meta activity and work out where paid social can play a bigger role in our growth mix, testing new audiences, creative, campaign approaches and platforms where there’s a strong commercial case.
- Get properly stuck into the detail: Dive into search queries, audiences, campaign structures, bids, budgets and performance to understand what’s working, what’s wasting spend and where the next opportunity is.
- Spend smartly: Manage digital spend within agreed monthly targets, keep a close eye on pacing and performance and make clear recommendations on where to push, pause or test next.
- Test, learn, repeat: Partner with our Content Creator and Design team to test new creative hooks, formats, audiences, messaging and landing-page experiences across our paid channels.
- Make reporting actually useful: Turn channel data into clear, practical insight. We don’t just want to know what happened - we want you to help us understand why, what it means commercially and what we should do next.
- Own landing page launches & web optimisations: Take end-to-end ownership when campaigns need new landing pages, quizzes or other web experiences, from drafting copy with support from the team through to building, tracking and launching them using our CMS/web tools.
- Think beyond platform metrics: Look at performance through the full funnel, helping us understand which activity is generating valuable customers and where we can improve conversion from click through to order.
- Make things happen: Coordinate briefs, assets, links, tracking and launches across content, design, web and the wider marketing team so campaigns get live quickly and with as little faff as possible. You’ll also be happy jumping into wider growth priorities when the team needs it.
Typically around 3-5 years of hands‑on performance marketing experience, ideally gained within an agency, media or fast‑paced in‑house environment. What matters most is that you’ve built strong technical foundations and are ready to take more ownership.
Strong paid search expertise. You’ll be confident personally building, managing and optimising Google Ads campaigns day to day, including search query analysis, campaign structure, bidding, budgets and performance reporting. Microsoft Ads experience would be useful too.
Experience with SA360. You don’t need to have led a major migration before, but you should know the platform well enough to help us move our existing activity into it and establish good ways of working.
Experience with programmatic / DV360. You should understand how display campaigns are set up and optimised and be comfortable helping us test and grow the channel. Experience with Campaign Manager 360 would be a bonus.
Paid social experience, ideally within Meta Ads Manager, with a good understanding of how audiences, creative, placements and formats affect performance.
Good tracking and measurement fundamentals. You understand why conversion tracking, UTMs, audiences, naming conventions and clean campaign setup matter, and you’ll spot when something doesn’t look right.
A test-and-learn mindset. You’re curious about why performance changes, comfortable forming a hypothesis and happy when a test teaches you something - even when it doesn’t win.
A proper performance mindset. You enjoy digging into the numbers, finding wasted spend, spotting opportunities and working out what we should do next. You care about commercial outcomes, not just platform metrics.
Good judgement and prioritisation. There will always be more we could do than we have time for. You’ll be able to work out what matters most and focus your energy there.
We want your hard work to be rewarded with perks you actually care about!
