You and a group of strong analysts will be generating insights to guide Octopus’ commercial decisions. You will be leading the UK data commercial team and guiding global cooperation in this critical area. You will act as a strategic business partner to Commercial, Sales, Marketing and Energy Markets teams, combining hands‑on technical expertise with strong team leadership.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead UK team: Lead, set priorities, coordinate and review the work of a high‑performance team of commercial and marketing data analysts.
  • Strategic analytics: Use data to guide our understanding of our customers and our competitors. Impact our UK and global strategy through insights presented to the senior leadership team.
  • Pricing operations: Enable us to react quickly to the ever‑changing energy industry through smooth price changes, ensuring we offer good deals for our millions of customers and comply with regulations.
  • Metrics: Help people all across the business understand the key drivers of their operations through well‑defined KPIs and intuitive dashboards. Examples of metrics include seeing why people churn, performance of marketing campaigns, lifetime value calculations etc.
  • Global cooperation: Prioritise and coordinate the data teams supporting Octopus’ operations globally, balancing local needs with global opportunities.
Qualifications
  • Experience as a manager of a high‑performing data team.
  • Hands‑on expertise with modern data platforms and analytical tools (especially SQL and Python).
  • Passion for both hands‑on data work and leading teams to deliver insights.
  • Strong communication skills to influence non‑technical stakeholders and senior leadership.
  • Strong commercial acumen, preferably in pricing, margin optimisation, and/or growth analytics.
  • A track record of delivering actionable insights that drive measurable business impact.
