We are recruiting for a Survey Manager to join us here at Octavius.

We are a leading civil engineering organisation delivering safe, sustainable, and efficient transport solutions across the UK.

You\’ll be working on…. (what your role and responsibility is)

As Survey Manager within our Wales and Western Framework, you\’ll play a pivotal role in planning, coordinating, and delivering survey activities that support design and construction deliverables. You\’ll liaise with Network Rail, designers, and supply chain partners to define survey requirements, manage access and stakeholder constraints, and ensure compliance with framework standards. Your responsibilities will include compiling survey strategies, managing subcontract orders, overseeing survey programmes, and ensuring timely and quality outputs that support project success.

You\’re a proactive leader with strong communication skills and a passion for continuous improvement. You thrive in fast-paced environments and are comfortable managing complex survey programmes. You\’re collaborative, resilient, and committed to safety and stakeholder engagement.

You\’ll Bring… (your Wealth Of Experience & Qualifications)

  • 2–3 years of railway experience, ideally with exposure to design development.
  • Knowledge of survey standards including topographic, tag and trace, and GPR.
  • Experience in disciplines such as Civils, M&E, Geotechnical, and rail (e.g. signalling, telecoms, E&P).
  • Strong programming and project management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel; familiarity with ProjectWise and SharePoint is a plus.
  • Ideally degree qualified in Civil Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • SMSTS, CSCS, PTS, and ICI certifications are desirable but not essential.
