Octavius Infrastructure are excited to be a part of the North-West Central framework delivering rail infrastructure upgrades between Euston & Crewe. We are recruiting for 3 x CREs to cover the OLE / SCADA / E&P / M&E functions – dual functions and experience is desirable covering more than your lead 0040 sign off. These CREs will join the team focused on the Bushey PSU project in Hertfordshire. We are a leading civil engineering organisation delivering safe, sustainable, and efficient transport solutions across the UK.
In this role you will ensure the safe and timely completion of OLE projects, undertaking the role of Contractors Responsible Engineer (CRE) supporting the Contractors Engineering Manager (CEM), collectively working to enhance design, construction and quality standards. These roles are open to create and develop an OLE delivery function within the business for continued growth through CP7 & into CP8 and beyond.
What You’ll Be Working On
- Implement Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality controls.
- Manage day-to-day construction engineering activities.
- Collaborate with the CEM, Project Manager, Design Manager, and CREs for alignment.
- Provide construction technical support to the CEM, Project Manager and site teams.
- Review and respond to Technical Queries and participate in reviews.
- Work closely with the Project Commercial team for accurate cost estimates.
- Liaise with the Project Planner and construction affiliates for project plans.
- Review designs.
- Control work packages and ensure cost and milestone adherence.
- Provide progress updates and reports to the Planning Engineer.
- Monitor subcontractor performance and ensure compliance.
- Report safety, environmental, and compliance incidents.

About You…
- Design and installation experience.
- Ability to manage and direct site staff.
- Knowledge of railway infrastructure work.
- Familiarity with CDM 2015 regulations.
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
- Background in rail Contracting, construction or Electrical Engineering.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications.
- Problem-Solving, Attention to Detail, and Communication skills.
- IEng / CEng or working towards professional registration with the IEE or other relevant engineering body.
- Time Management, Adaptability, and Resilience under pressure.
- Ethical Conduct and Continuous Learning mindset.
You’ll Bring…
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or relevant work experience in the rail sector to include Feeder routes, substations, or High Voltage and Low Voltage systems.
- Track Competence.
- Hold a full UK Driving Licence.
