We are Octavius, a leading civil engineering organisation delivering safe, sustainable transport solutions across the UK. We don't just build infrastructure — we build it right. Quality, safety and collaboration sit at the heart of everything we do. And we’re looking for a Quality Engineer who’s ready to raise the bar.

In this role you’ll:

  • Own quality on site. Not just the paperwork — the culture.
  • Drive the systems that make "Right First Time" a reality. From developing and managing the ITP register to leading the NCR process, ensure compliance isn’t reactive — it’s proactive.
  • Shape and manage ITPs and oversee the ITR process with precision.
  • Lead the NCR process — identifying issues early, coaching teams and ensuring robust close-out.
  • Take control of materials testing in line with App 1/5, ensuring compliance and programme alignment.
  • Maintain the temporary works register and support the TWC.
  • Oversee handover documentation from day one — no last-minute scrambles.
  • Use digital quality systems to spot trends, drive improvements and strengthen performance.
  • Champion a Zero Defects mindset across site.

You’ll be a key part of the site team — visible, accountable and influential.

You’ll work with Engineers, Project Managers, Temporary Works Coordinators, Document Controllers and supply chain partners. You’ll also engage confidently with clients and designers, resolving issues collaboratively and building trust through transparency and professionalism. You’ll be the link between design, engineering and delivery — ensuring nothing slips through the cracks.

We offer a competitive rewards package, including a Company Car scheme, Private Healthcare, Pension, Life Assurance cover, 25 days Annual Leave (and a day off for your birthday). You’ll also have access to Hybrid working where possible, an enhanced Paternity & Maternity package and the opportunity to develop yourself personally and professionally.

You’re confident, commercially aware and calm under pressure. You know that quality isn’t about ticking boxes — it’s about standards, behaviours and accountability. You’re comfortable challenging poor practice, coaching engineers to raise NCRs and embedding continuous improvement without creating friction. You lead by example. You communicate clearly. And you care about getting it right.

You’ll bring:

  • Proven experience as a Quality Engineer within civil engineering or infrastructure.
  • Strong knowledge of QA systems, ITPs, ITRs and NCR management.
  • Experience overseeing materials testing and temporary works processes.
  • A sharp eye for detail and the ability to see the bigger operational picture.
  • Relevant engineering qualifications (HNC/HND/Degree or equivalent).
  • Above all, you’ll bring energy, integrity and the drive to deliver work that stands up to scrutiny — safely, efficiently and without compromise.
