We are recruiting for a LV Design Engineer to join Navitas Engineering, an Octavius Company. Navitas Engineering is a leading civil engineering organisation delivering safe, sustainable and efficient transport solutions across the UK, with expertise in electrical engineering design, consultancy and testing services for the railway and electricity supply industries.
The LV Design Engineer is responsible for delivering high‑quality, compliant and constructible low‑voltage electrical designs across rail and infrastructure projects, supporting the full project lifecycle from tender to delivery. The role supports technical excellence, programme performance and commercial outcomes, progressively taking ownership of defined work packages and helping develop junior staff while working closely with Senior and Principal Engineers.
Design Delivery- Produce LV electrical designs that are safe, compliant, buildable and aligned to project scope, programme and budget
- Support tender development through technical input, optioneer and preliminary design
- Undertake design calculations, technical reports and supporting documentation
- Contribute to multidisciplinary coordination and interface management
- Support commissioning, handover and technical close‑out activities where required
- Comply with CDM Designer duties and contribute to risk reduction through design
- Apply relevant legislation, standards and company procedures consistently
- Participate in design reviews, checking processes and technical assurance activities
- Contribute to development of Designer’s Risk Assessments and hazard management
- Support technical studies, investigations and engineering problem solving
- Assist in load monitoring, analysis and reporting activities
- Apply engineering judgement to resolve technical issues and propose practical solutions
- Maintain accurate design records and configuration control
- Manage own workload to meet project delivery requirements
- Contribute to project planning and progress reporting
- Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary design teams

- Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
- Minimum 2 years experience in LV electrical design within rail, infrastructure or similar sector
- Working knowledge of relevant UK/European standards and design practices
- Understanding of engineering design processes and multidisciplinary project environments
- BS7671 18th Edition wiring regulations
- Experience using core electrical design software such as AutoCAD or MicroStation, Amtech/ETAP/Hevacomp, DIALux/Relux, ProjectWise
- Right to work in the UK
- Progress towards IEng or CEng professional registration
- Experience of E&P or rail infrastructure environments
- Familiarity with load monitoring and power system analysis
- Experience contributing to design assurance processes
