The Southern Renewals Enterprise (SRE) is accountable for the Southern Region's renewals programme (CP7 & CP8) and through collective expertise will develop, mobilise and deliver a £9 billion programme between 2024 – 2034. The Southern Integrated Delivery (SID), which forms part of the SRE, is a fully integrated commercial partnership between AtkinsRéalis, Network Rail, Octavius, VolkerFitzpatrick and VolkerRail. Through our collective strength, capability and knowledge we will own and deliver the renewals programme and together we achieve and share in its success.
The purpose of the role is:
- Support the Engineering & Assurance Lead to meet Network Rail Engineering Standard NR/L2/RSE/02009 requirements.
- Implement Framework Design and Engineering Management Plans, and provide technical assurance to projects.
- Manage and develop a team of engineers, ensuring competent resources are employed on all projects.
- Provide technical support and advice across all project phases, and manage temporary works processes.
- Assist in audit activities for business and client assurance, and ensure the delivery of engineering/technical support.

- Support the Engineering & Assurance Lead in project activities and maintain Engineering Management Plans.
- Ensure competent engineering resources and manage delivery of in-house and subcontract designs.
- Assist project teams with risk management, commercial issues, and compliance processes.
- Review and advise on design briefs, structural investigations, and temporary works.
- Mentor engineers and encourage knowledge sharing across the business, focusing on design and engineering.

About you…. (what you are skilled at)
- Proven experience in the delivery of Rail infrastructure projects.
- Your previous/background experience will have seen you progressed via a Contractors Responsible Engineer (CRE).
- Your previous/background experience will likely have been within Electrification and Plant/ construction and/or design and now you are looking to use your depth of knowledge in support of others.
- In-depth knowledge of construction techniques and processes across, building and civils works, OHL, E&P and Rail Electrification.
- Specific knowledge around implementation and/or design of temporary works solutions.
- Previous use of ACC is key as all nominations and management of the design is completed through this system.
- Experience of the CDM 2015 regulations and how they can be implemented successfully.
- To ensure the safe delivery of our project with a focus Design & Engineering.

- Degree qualified Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical, Chartered Engineer.
- SMSTS (preferred).
- CDM Regulations training and practiced in application.
- Temporary works coordinator or experience in application.
- Level 1 Audit qualifications (preferred).
- LEAN advocate (preferred).
