Octavius is recruiting for a Site Supervisor to support delivery on the A46 Coventry Junctions - Walsgrave Scheme, a major National Highways project improving capacity, safety, and connectivity in the region. This is a hands‑on supervisory role where you'll be on the ground every day, helping to coordinate works, maintain standards, and keep site activity moving safely and efficiently.
As Site Supervisor, you'll support the supervision and coordination of site activities, ensuring works are carried out safely, to plan, and to the required quality standards.
Responsibilities- Supervising day‑to‑day site operations across highways and earthworks activities
- Coordinating labour, plant, materials, and subcontractors to maintain productivity and safe working
- Supporting the Foreperson in delivering daily plans and short‑term look‑aheads
- Ensuring RAMS, permits, and safe systems of work are followed at all times
- Carrying out task briefings, toolbox talks, and site inductions as required
- Monitoring quality on site and supporting a right‑first‑time approach
- Keeping accurate site records including diaries, permits, and checks
- Maintaining a safe, tidy, and well‑controlled working environment
- Being mindful of public interface, traffic management, and community impact on a live highways scheme
- General Foreperson and Site Management team
- Engineers and other Supervisors
- Subcontractors and plant operators
- HSQE and Temporary Works teams (as required)
You will be a visible presence on site, helping maintain clear communication and consistent standards across delivery teams.

You're practical, reliable, and comfortable supervising works in a busy civil engineering environment. You take pride in doing things properly and understand how strong site control supports safety, programme, and quality.
You’ll suit this role if you:
- Enjoy being active on site and supporting teams face‑to‑face
- Communicate clearly and confidently with operatives and subcontractors
- Understand the pressures of live highways and earthworks delivery
- Take responsibility for your work area and lead by example
Experience as a Site Supervisor / Works Supervisor / Ganger / Section Supervisor on civil engineering or highways schemes
Exposure to highways works and earthworks activities
A good understanding of site safety, quality checks, and daily site controls
Confidence supporting Foremen and Site Managers with site coordination
Experience working under RAMS and permit‑controlled environments
A proactive, organised approach to day‑to‑day site supervision
QualificationsEssential:
- SSSTS (or working towards SMSTS)
- CSCS Card (Supervisor level preferred)
- First Aid at Work
- Full UK Driving Licence
