We are recruiting for Traffic Management (TM) Civils Operatives to join us here at Octavius to help develop our own in-house traffic management capability as Octavius is now accredited to 12D standard. Octavius is a leading civil engineering organisation delivering safe, sustainable, and efficient transport solutions across the UK. This is an exciting new role encompassing both classic civils works as well as TM responsibilities and we will support training as required and offer a varied and rewarding career path.
We are looking for several people to support long-term local projects in the following areas - Sussex, Dorset, Hampshire, Somerset, Bristol and Plymouth.
You’ll be working on:
- To install, maintain and remove traffic management on rural and urban roads (low speed roads, Lantra 12D), ensuring that it meets the required standard, inform motorists clearly and keep pedestrians and our workforce safe.
- Supporting our civils team on long-term frameworks in Somerset, Dorset, Hampshire, West and East Sussex and the South West.
- Ensure pedestrian routes are safe, well maintained and accessible.
- Boundary fencing is kept secure and barriers are maintained.
- Usually working as part of a two-person team, installing traffic management in advance of the site team and removing it after the end of their shift.
- Carrying out maintenance checks and maintaining traffic management as required throughout the shift.

You’ll bring:
- General knowledge of health, safety and wellbeing.
- General knowledge of low-speed traffic management (NRSWA or Lantra 12D techniques, required standards and layouts).
- Experience of working in a construction environment, ideally on the highway, delivering groundworks schemes (kerbing, drainage, ducting, paving, surfacing etc), whilst interacting with members of the public.
- Full UK driving license, for a minimum of two years.
- Lantra 12D – TTMBC, T1/T2, M1/M2, M3, M4, M5, M6.
- NRSWA Signing Lighting and Guarding O1 or S1 (or equivalent qualification / relevant experience).
- CSCS/CPCS Card for civils activities.
- Safety Critical Medical.
