We are working with a leading global asset manager seeking a Developed Markets Economist to join their London-based Macro Strategy team. This is a high-impact role with a core focus on the UK and Europe, alongside broader developed markets coverage.
The Opportunity
You will be responsible for forming macroeconomic views across the UK and Euro Area, while contributing to the wider developed markets framework. Sitting close to the investment process, the role requires the ability to translate macro developments into clear, actionable investment insights.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop macroeconomic outlooks for the UK and Europe, including growth, inflation, and policy dynamics
- Monitor and assess central bank actions, particularly the Bank of England and ECB
- Translate macro views into investment-relevant themes and trade ideas across rates, FX, and asset allocation
- Work directly with portfolio managers to inform positioning and risk decisions
- Contribute to broader developed markets macro discussions across G10 economies
- Produce high-quality research and present views to internal stakeholders
Candidate Profile
- 5+ years' experience in a macroeconomic role within a buy-side or sell-side institution
- Strong expertise in UK and/or European macroeconomics
- Proven ability to link macro analysis to investment strategy and trade ideas
- Solid understanding of developed markets rates and FX
- Strong communication skills with experience working alongside investors
