We’re working with a hedge fund to hire a Front Office Software Developer to join their front office technology team in London. The role focuses on the design, development, and support of trading and portfolio management systems, working closely with developers, traders, and researchers in a production environment.
Key Responsibilities- Work closely with developers, traders, and quantitative researchers to design, build, and enhance trading systems and investment workflows.
- Develop C#/.NET microservices supporting front-office trading and portfolio management platforms.
- Design and implement event-driven systems to improve scalability, responsiveness, and fault tolerance.
- Build and maintain data pipelines to ingest and process data from multiple external vendors and internal sources.
- Develop low-latency APIs (REST and/or GraphQL) to support communication across distributed systems.
- Create monitoring tools and dashboards to ensure system performance, reliability, and availability.
- Take ownership of services from design and development through to deployment and support.
- Support and lead production releases, including validation, monitoring, and rollback strategies.
- Work with DevOps to improve CI/CD pipelines, reducing deployment risk and improving delivery speed.
- Contribute to engineering best practices, including code reviews and system design discussions.
- Degree in a STEM subject from a leading university.
- 4+ years of experience in C# development within a hedge fund or financial services environment.
- Experience building trading systems, such as order management systems or automated investment workflows.
- Experience with microservices architecture and distributed systems.
- Knowledge of event-driven architectures (e.g. messaging systems/service buses).
- Working knowledge of Python and SQL.
- Experience working in Linux environments.
- Familiarity with source control, CI/CD, and containerisation (e.g. Docker).
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to balance development, infrastructure, and security considerations.
