Octavius Finance is partnering with a leading global geopolitical advisory firm to appoint a Geopolitical Advisor & Macro Economist to join its growing international team. With established offices in London and New York, the firm advises senior executives, boards, investors and policymakers on the geopolitical and macroeconomic developments shaping global business. As a truly international organisation, the role can be based in either London or New York, working closely with colleagues and clients across both offices.
The firm is seeking a geopolitical advisor with a strong macroeconomics background, rather than a traditional economist. This individual will become the firm's internal economics lead, bringing macroeconomic expertise into broader geopolitical analysis while acting as a trusted advisor to clients across a diverse range of industries. In addition to leading client engagements, you will help shape the firm's intellectual agenda by identifying emerging macroeconomic and policy themes, developing thought leadership, and supporting business development initiatives. This is a highly visible role offering significant exposure to senior decision-makers, complex international issues and a collaborative team of geopolitical specialists.
Key Responsibilities- Lead client relationships and advisory engagements across a broad portfolio of multinational corporates, financial institutions and investors.
- Provide macroeconomic analysis and insight as part of wider geopolitical and strategic advisory work.
- Act as the firm's internal lead on macroeconomics, supporting colleagues across client engagements.
- Identify emerging macroeconomic and policy themes for client briefings, events and multi-client research.
- Work closely with the business development team to identify commercial opportunities, contribute to client pitches and support firm growth.
- Provide guidance to advisory teams on economic content and analytical frameworks.
- Produce high-quality written analysis and present findings directly to senior executives, boards and investment committees.
The successful candidate is likely to have:
- Approximately 6–8 years of relevant experience within a geopolitical advisory firm, economics consultancy, think tank, policy institution, investment bank, asset manager or a similar strategic advisory environment.
- A strong understanding of global macroeconomics and how economic developments interact with geopolitics.
- The ability to apply economic analysis within broader geopolitical and strategic advisory work, rather than operating as a pure economist.
- Experience leading client relationships and presenting complex issues to senior executive audiences.
- Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills.
- A commercial mindset, with an interest in contributing to thought leadership and business development.
- The ability to work collaboratively across teams while taking ownership of projects and client deliverables.
Join a highly respected global geopolitical advisory firm with offices in London and New York. Advise senior decision-makers on some of the most important geopolitical and macroeconomic issues affecting global business. Become the firm's recognised macroeconomics specialist, helping shape both client work and thought leadership. Enjoy significant client exposure and the opportunity to take ownership of high-profile international engagements. Work within a collaborative, intellectually stimulating environment with excellent long-term career progression. Flexibility to be based in either London or New York.
