We are seeking an experienced Internal Auditor with extensive National Fraud Initiative (NFI) expertise to lead on the Council's NFI Data Matching exercise. This is a focused assignment for a specialist capable of independently managing NFI workload from end to end.

- Hours: 15 hours per week
- Rate: Β£23.00 per hour (Umbrella)
Key Responsibilities
- Take sole responsibility for the NFI Data Matching process, including data entry, prioritising match investigations, and conducting detailed investigative work.
- Deliver clear, outcome-focused results in line with NFI requirements.
- Provide independent, objective assurance on the Council's control environment.
- Examine and evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls to support the economic, efficient, and effective use of resources.
- Support the Council in improving operations, enhancing risk management, strengthening control and governance processes, and promoting continuous improvement.
- Conduct a portfolio of high- and medium-risk audits, providing assurance to Chief Officers, Senior Managers, and contributing to reports for the Governance and Audit Committee and Senior Leadership Team.
- Review the effectiveness of controls, safeguarding of assets, and reliability of financial and management information.
- Apply professional judgement, initiative, and audit expertise in all work undertaken, including investigative tasks.
- Provide supervision and mentoring to internal auditors where required.
- Ensure all work complies with Public Sector Internal Audit Standards (PSIAS).
About You
- Extensive hands-on experience with NFI match investigation, data matching, and reporting.
- A strong understanding of internal audit methodologies and standards.
- Excellent analytical, investigatory, and reporting skills.
- The ability to work independently and deliver high-quality assurance within a short-term assignment.
