We are currently recruiting for an experienced HGV Technician to join a busy local authority workshop in Derby on a temp-to-perm basis.
This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a skilled team responsible for maintaining a diverse fleet of HGVs, commercial vehicles and specialist plant equipment, ensuring they remain safe, compliant and roadworthy.

- Hours: 37 hours per week (alternating early and late shifts)
- Contract: Temp to Perm

The Role
As an HGV Technician, you will carry out servicing, inspections, maintenance and repairs on a range of heavy goods vehicles and plant equipment.
You'll diagnose faults, complete repairs to the highest standards and help keep the fleet operating efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out routine servicing, maintenance and repairs on HGVs, commercial vehicles and plant equipment.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic faults using specialist diagnostic equipment.
- Ensure all work complies with DVSA/VOSA roadworthiness standards and Operator Licence requirements.
- Respond to vehicle and plant breakdowns, carrying out emergency roadside repairs when required.
- Complete service sheets, inspection reports and maintenance records accurately.
- Assist with training apprentices and new members of staff.
- Follow all Health & Safety procedures and maintain a clean, safe working environment.
- Participate in an out-of-hours standby rota and occasional overtime as required.
About You
- Proven experience as an HGV Technician, Commercial Vehicle Technician or Heavy Plant Technician.
- Strong diagnostic skills across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Experience carrying out inspections, servicing and repairs to commercial vehicles.
- Knowledge of DVSA/VOSA roadworthiness standards and vehicle compliance.
- A willingness to work alternating early and late shifts.
- A commitment to maintaining high standards of health and safety.
