We're recruiting on behalf of Derby City Council for an experienced HGV Technician to join their Fleet Workshop at Stores Road. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on a varied fleet of HGVs, refuse vehicles and plant equipment within a secure, supportive environment.
The Role
- Servicing, maintaining and repairing HGVs, plant equipment and Council vehicles.
- Diagnosing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic faults.
- Attending breakdowns and carrying out on-site repairs when required.
- Welding, fabrication and body repairs.
- Completing service and inspection records.
- Supporting workshop stores and maintaining a safe, tidy workspace.
- Working an alternating early and late shift rota (no night shifts).
- Participating in an out-of-hours standby rota.
About You
- Experience maintaining and repairing HGVs or heavy plant.
- Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
- Welding and fabrication experience.
- A reliable, safety-conscious approach with good communication skills.
