HGV Technician required for a modern workshop maintaining and repairing HGVs, commercial vehicles and specialist fleet vehicles. Full training provided, £1,500 joining bonus, manufacturer development and HGV licence training available. Must have the right to work in the UK.

Location: Southampton (Romsey)

Pay: £19.93 - £21.89 per hour (£44,900+ per year depending on experience)

Joining Bonus: £1,500 (£750 after first month's pay, £750 after successful probation)

Job Type: Permanent | Full Time

Working Hours: Workshop based role working 42.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Flexible start and finish times between 7:00am and 6:00pm. No weekend work required. Saturday overtime is completely optional and paid at enhanced rates.

About the Role:

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HGV Technician, HGV Mechanic or Commercial Vehicle Technician to join one of the UK's largest commercial vehicle rental and fleet maintenance businesses. You'll be working within a busy, modern workshop maintaining a diverse fleet of heavy commercial vehicles and specialist equipment including industry-leading manufacturers such as: Mercedes-Benz, Iveco, Ford, and specialist commercial vehicles.

HGV Technician Responsibilities:

  • Carry out servicing, repairs and maintenance on HGVs and commercial vehicles
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults using modern diagnostic equipment
  • Complete HGV Preventative Maintenance Inspections (PMI)
  • Prepare commercial vehicles for MOT testing
  • Repair and maintain specialist commercial fleet equipment
  • Work safely and efficiently to manufacturer and company standards
  • Complete accurate job cards and maintenance records
  • Work collaboratively within an experienced workshop team
  • Ensure all vehicles meet safety, compliance and quality standards

HGV Technician Requirements:

  • Right to work in the UK
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Level 3 Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair qualification (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, IMI or equivalent)
  • We will also consider applicants with Level 3 Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair qualifications who have strong HGV workshop experience
  • Experience carrying out servicing, maintenance, diagnostics and repairs on heavy commercial vehicles
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a busy workshop team
  • Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
  • A Class C or Class C+E HGV licence is not essential. After successfully completing probation, the company will fully fund your HGV licence training.
